TODAY'S CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY... JASON PRIESTLEY

Canadian-American actor and TV director Jason Bradford Priestley was born 56 years ago in Vancouver, British Columbia, is married and has 2 children.

Jason’s acting career started in 1978 by appearing in some commercials and a TV film.  Eight years later, he made his big screen debut in a movie called ‘The Boy who could Fly’.  The following year, he guest-appeared in an episode of ‘Airwolf’, 2 episodes of ’21 Jump Street’ and an episode of ‘Danger Bay’.  For the rest of the 80s, Jason had a main role in the teen fantasy drama series ‘Teen Angel’ as well as a lead role in the sitcom ‘Sister Kate’.

At the beginning of the 90s, Priestley was offered to interpret one of the main characters, i.e. that of Brandon Walsh, in the famous teen drama series ‘Beverley Hills, 90210’.  He played this role for 9 seasons and continued in a guest role for season 10 in a total of 246 episodes.  This series became very popular and rendered Jason a teen idol.  During that decade, he also starred in 13 films and 9 TV productions.

In the last 25 years, Jason continued with his career and starred in 20 movies and over 60 TV productions.  He has also voiced several animated movie characters, appeared in 2 music videos and directed more than 30 TV productions, including documentaries, films and series.  Jason also published his autobiography in 2014.

During his career so far, Priestley was nominated for a Gemini Award and a Young Artist Award, and twice for a Golden Globe Award, but never won.  He was, however, inducted in the Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2016.
