TODAY'S CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY...JENNIFER RUSH

American singer Jennifer Rush was born as Heidi Stern on 28th September 1960 in Queens, New York.

When she was a child, Jennifer studied the violin, as well as learnt to play the piano and guitar.

Her career began in 1979 when her first album was released.  But it was in 1985 when she gained international success with the number one hit ‘The Power of Love’.  In the UK, it was the biggest selling single for that year, and it was also very popular across many European countries, Australia and South Africa, so much so that it was even listed in the Guinness book of Records.  She also had another successful hit ‘Ring of Ice’.

The next two albums that followed also proved successful and she continued to sing in English as well as in Spanish.  She also recorded songs which she sang in duet with various artists like Elton John, Brian May, Michael Bolton, plus writing songs on her own or with other producers.

During the 90s, until 1998, Jennifer recorded 4 more albums and afterwards took a career break to spend more time with her daughter.  She then focused more on song writing rather than singing whilst concentrating more on raising her daughter, being a single mother.

Her last album was issued in 2010.  In all, Jennifer had 25 albums, 17 music videos and 34 singles.
