Actor Keanu Charles Reeves was born on 2nd September 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon but was raised in Canada.
At the age of 9, Keanu performed in a stage production and as a kid used to watch English comedy shows. He attended High school and then College and was a very good ice hockey goalkeeper, so much so that he considered to become a professional player. When he was 15, however, he decided to pursue an acting career instead.
During the 80s, Keanu worked in numerous productions including theatre, TV films and commercials, a music video and several films of different genres like ‘Act of Vengeance’, ‘Youngblood’, ‘The Night Before’, ‘Dangerous Liaisons’, ‘Parenthood’ and ‘Tune in Tomorrow’, amongst others. He achieved good reviews for his performances which helped him receive more important future roles.
Matter of factly, in the decade that followed, Keanu was offered more significant parts in movies like ‘My own private Idaho’ with River Phoenix, ‘Point Break’ alongside Patrick Swayze, ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’, ‘Little Buddha’ and ‘Speed’ with Sandra Bullock, which was a huge success. More films include ‘Johnny Mnemonic’, A Walk in the Clouds’, ‘Chain Reaction’, ‘Feeling Minnesota’ and ‘The ‘Devil’s Advocate’. Besides acting, Keanu showed interest in music and created a band named ‘Dogstar’ in 1991 which remained active until 2002.
Real stardom, however, was reached when Keanu starred in the 4 movies of ‘The Matrix’. They were very well appreciated by film critics and were even considered as one of the best sci-fi movies in history.
In the last 20 years, Keanu appeared in a couple of TV shows and starred in more than 45 films, some of which were produced by himself and also ‘gave’ his voice for a few animated movies. He is also supposed to act in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ in 2023.
During his long career, Keanu won 12 awards out of 28 nominations. He wrote 3 books and is also an active philanthropist. Keanu created a cancer organisation to help children’s hospitals as well as cancer research. He also has a company that produces films and another one which makes customised motorcycles.
