American actor Lou Ferrigno was born 72 years ago as Louis Jude Ferrigno in Brooklyn, New York City, is separated and has 3 children. He is also a personal trainer and bodybuilder.
At a very young age, Lou suffered many ear infections which resulted in losing around 80% of his hearing. This caused a lot of bullying during his childhood, but Lou was determined to overcome this problem and was tormented with power. He read comics like Spider-Man and Hulk and when he was 13, he began weight training.
Ferrigno took his education at grammar and later technical high school, and learnt metal working. He graduated at the age of 18 and immediately afterwards he won his first significant bodybuilding title. Lou continued to compete and managed to win as well as achieve good placings in these competitions until he retired definitely in 1996.
Lou’s acting career commenced in 1977 when he interpreted Hulk in ‘The Incredible Hulk’ TV series, which was aired until 1981. His career proceeded with starring in various TV sitcoms, drama, shows, movies like ‘Hercules’, ‘Hulk’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’.
In 2015, Ferrigno contested in a reality TV show with the aim of winning a competition, which he did and the sum won was passed on to the charity ‘Muscular Dystrophy Association’.
Lou was inducted in the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 and the following year, then US President Donald Trump appointed him as a member of the Government’s Sports, Fitness and Nutrition Council.
