English singer, actress and former model Samantha Karen Fox was born 57 years ago in Mile End, London and is married.
At just 3 years old, she made her first appearance on a theatre stage. She created a pop group at the age of 14 and started attending a theatre school the following year.
Samantha’s modelling career commenced in 1983, after her mother had sent some of Samantha’s photographs to a local newspaper to participate in a modelling contest. She managed to arrive second from 20,000 contestants and was signed with a 4-year modelling contract with another newspaper.
That same year, Fox tried to pursue a career in singing and released 2 singles which, however, failed to chart. A couple of years later, she attended an open audition and was requested to sing ‘Touch Me (I Want Your Body). She triumphed and the single was released in 1986, becoming an immediate hit and featuring in the Top Ten charts of various countries, a no 3 in the UK and a no 4 in the US.
A second single followed plus her debut album which were both successful and Samantha’s popularity continued to grow. 1987 was the end of her modelling career and till the end of that decade she proceeded with releasing more albums and touring the world. More successful hits include ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now’, ‘Naughty Girls (Need Love Too), ‘I Wanna be with You’, and ‘I Wanna have some Fun’.
From the beginning of the 90s, however, her career started going downhill and to date, although several albums were released, none of them yielded any hits. In all, Samantha had 22 albums, 36 singles (3 of which reached number 1), 21 music videos and 2 box sets.
Apart from music and modelling, Samantha appeared in some TV adverts, shows and series, as well as starred in a few movies.
During her career, Fox won 3 Awards, all received during the 80s.
