
American actor and producer Samuel Leroy Jackson was born 75 years ago in Washington DC, is married and has a daughter.
After graduating from high school, Samuel went to college with the intention of obtaining a degree in marine biology, however, he changed to studying drama after joining an acting group and got interested in this field.
His acting debut was in a stage play and later he appeared in TV films. For a whole decade, Jackson continued performing in theatrical plays and maintained himself by getting a night security guard job. During the 80s, he got to know a famous film director who offered him small roles in a couple of movies. In the next decade, Samuel’s career took off and he rose to prominence after he was cast in various movies of different genres such as ‘Goodfellas’, ‘Jungle Fever’, ‘Patriot Games’ and ‘Amos & Andrew’.
Jackson’s career breakthrough arrived when he interpreted the character of Jules Winnfield in a supporting role in the 1994 movie ‘Pulp Fiction’ alongside Bruce Willis, John Travolta and Harvey Keitel. After this movie’s huge box-office success, Samuel received several offers and continued appearing in many significant films which rendered him more and more famous. These include ‘Die Hard with a Vengeance’ , ‘A Time to Kill’, ‘187’, ‘Jackie Brown’, ‘Sphere’, ‘The Negotiator’ and ‘Deep Blue Sea’.
In the last 2 decades, Jackson starred in over 80 movies, voiced several animated movie characters, as well as appeared in numerous TV specials, documentaries and series. He also has 5 upcoming films, 2 of which are supposed to be released in 2024.
During his long career, Samuel received numerous awards including an Academy and a BAFTA and is listed as the second highest grossing actor of all time.
