American actor, producer, director and screenwriter Tim Robbins was born 67 years ago as Timothy Francis Robbins in West Covina, California, is divorced and has 2 children.
As a kid, Tim showed interest in acting and when he was 12 years old, began performing in theatrical plays and whilst in high school, joined its drama club. Afterwards, Tim attended 2 different universities and graduated with a BA in Drama and then created a theatrical group named ‘Actors’ Gang’.
In 1982, Robbins debuted on the small screen in 3 episodes of the medical drama series ‘St Elsewhere’ and 2 years later appeared in the movies ‘Toy Soldiers’ and ‘No Small Affair’. For the rest of that decade, Tim starred in various TV programmes and films, but his career breakthrough arrived in 1988 when he portrayed Ebby Calvin ‘Nuke’ Laloosh in the romantic comedy sports movie ‘Bull Durham’, alongside Kevin Costner.
Since the beginning of the 90s to date, Tim appeared in over 40 films and more than 10 TV productions. Out of these, he directed and wrote 3 movies which are ‘Bob Roberts’, ‘Dead Man Walking’ and ‘Cradle Will Rock’. Some notable films he starred in include ‘The Player’, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘Arlington Road’, ‘Nothing to Lose’, ‘High Fidelity’ and ‘Mystic River’, amongst many others.
During his career so far, Tim won 37 awards out of 43 nominations. These include 3 Golden Globe, an Academy, a Critics’ Choice and a Screen Actors’ Guild.
