Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist Alessandro ‘Alex’ Britti was born 56 years ago in Monteverde, Rome, is single and has a son.
When he was just 8 years old, Alex started playing the guitar and 9 years later, at 17, he created a blues band and performed with them in local clubs. In the years that followed, he took part in Italian blues festivals as well as supported American blues singers who happened to tour Italy such as Buddy Miles and Billy Preston, whilst in 1990, he joined Rosa King on her European tour.
His debut album was recorded in 1992 but failed to be noticed, so Britti carried on with his career and moved to the Netherlands where he performed in clubs together with his band, occasionally returning to his native Italy, plus touring continental Europe as guest performer. In 1994 and 1995, he guest appeared in a couple of TV shows and consequently composed the soundtracks of 2 Italian movies, and also starred in one of them. He eventually left the Netherlands and returned to Italy for good.
Three years later, Alex topped the Italian charts with the single ‘Solo una volta (o tutta la vita), followed by his very successful album released that same year. He then participated in yearly San Remo Music Festival and won the ‘New Proposals’ category with the track ‘Oggi sono Io’. Alex competed 4 more times in the SRMF, with the best result achieved in 2003 placing 2nd with the song ‘7000 caffe`’.
From the year 2000 to date, Britti had 10 more studio albums, 1 live, 1 Collection, 1 EP and 29 music videos. With regards to singles, he had 34 as lead artist and 2 as guest artist.
