American actress Erin Marie Moran was born in 18th October 1960 in Burbank, California and passed away of 22nd April 2012. She was married and did not have any children.
Erin showed interest in acting from a very young age and with her mother’s support, she started taking acting lessons when she was just 5 years old, consequently making her small screen debut by appearing in a TV commercial. Two years later, in 1968, Erin was cast in the final season of the series ‘Daktari’ and also made her big screen debut in the comedy movie ‘How sweet it is!’ alongside actress Debbie Reynolds.
Moran then guest appeared in a few films and several TV series such as ‘The FBI’, ‘Family Affair’, ‘Gunsmoke’ and ‘The Don Rickles Show’. In 1974, she was chosen to interpret the character of Joanie Cunningham in the famous series ‘Happy Days’, starring also Ron Howard, Marion Ross, Tom Bosley and Henry Winkler who portrayed her brother, her parents and Fonzie respectively. This series ran for 10½ years between 1974 and 1984 with a total of 255 episodes. Erin starred in 234 episodes since between 1982 and 1984, she was cast in its spin-off ‘Joanie loves Chachi’ alongside Scott Baio who interpreted the character of her boyfriend. Since it was then cancelled, she returned starring in ‘Happy Days’ once again.
Whilst acting in ‘Happy Days’, Moran appeared in numerous other TV series and films and afterwards continued doing so until she quit acting in 2012. She also sang in some of these productions’ episodes.
In 1983, Erin won a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress in a New TV Series for ‘Joanie Loves Chachi’, whilst in 2006, she won a TV Land Award for Most Wonderful Wedding for ‘Happy Days’, which award was shared with actor Scott Baio.
Moran passed away on 22nd April 2017 at the age of 56 from throat cancer.
