American actor, producer, film director and screenwriter George Timothy Clooney was born 64 years ago in Lexington, Kentucky, is married and has twins.
As a teenager, he played basketball and baseball, with the aim that one of these sports would become his profession, but failed to reach his goal. He even attended University where he studied journalism, however, he never graduated.
His acting career started in 1978 with a small role in a TV series. In the next decade, he was given small and major roles in several other TV series and in 1990 he took a 5-year course in acting.
Stardom struck when George starred as a doctor in the popular medical drama ER, which ran between 1994 and 1999. Whilst working in ER, he also acted in various movies like From ‘Dusk till Dawn’, ‘One Fine Day’, ‘The Peacemaker’, ‘Batman and Robin’ etc.
In the year 2000, after he left ER, George starred in more films, including ‘Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve & Thirteen’, with ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ considered to be his most successful movie so far.
During the last 2 decades, Clooney continued to perform in various films of different genres, some of which include ‘Syriana’, ‘The American’, ‘The Descendants’, ‘Gravity’, ‘Money Monster’, ‘Ticket to Paradise’ and ‘Wolfs’. George will also be starring in an upcoming movie named ‘Jay Kelly’, which is expected to be released coming autumn . Besides acting, he produced 12 films, was executive producer of another 12 films as well as directed/produced/wrote several others.
Apart from TV series and movies, George also appeared in several TV commercials outside the USA and even published 2 books. This year, he debuted on Broadway by performing in the historical drama play ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’. Clooney is also involved in humanitarian work and is an active donor to numerous charities.
During his career, George won 67 awards out of 122 nominations. These include 2 Academy, 4 Golden Globe and 4 Screen Actors Guild Awards, amongst many others.
