English singer-songwriter Adele was born 37 years ago as Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, is engaged and has a son.

She started singing when she was only 4.  When she grew older, she was inspired by renowned artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, The Spice Girls, The Cranberries, Sinead O’Connor, amongst others.

After graduating, she published a couple of songs in a magazine as well as recorded 3 songs for a project in class.  After handing them to a friend, this pal posted them on MySpace and became instantly successful.  It was also noticed by a recording studio manager who contacted Adele and was the initiation of her career. 19, her debut album, was released in 2008, and from which two hits ‘Chasing Pavements’ and ‘Make you feel my Love’ positioned in the Top 5 UK charts.

In 2011, her second album, ’21’, was issued and was an overwhelming triumph, selling over 31 million copies globally and certified Diamond in the USA and 17x Platinum in her home country.  In 2012, Adele interpreted ‘Skyfall’ as the soundtrack for the James Bond movie bearing the same name.

She went on and released 2 more albums in 2015 and 2021 respectively, which like the previous ones were an immediate worldwide success, peaking to number one position in several countries.  Last year, Adele announced that she would be taking an indefinite career break and had no plans of releasing any albums at that time.  Over the years, she guest appeared in several TV programmes like game, variety and music shows as well as series.

Adele is an active philanthropist and has performed in many charitable concerts and events.  She supports organisations regarding music education in public schools, famine in Ethiopia, HIV/AIDS affected African and Indian countries, LGBT etc.

This great singer, often referred to as the ‘Queen of Hearts’, is considered as one of the best selling artists of all time, particularly of the 2010s, with record sales of over 90 million copies.  During her career, she won the impressive amount of 539 awards out of about 760 nominations.  Some of these are: 16 Grammy, 12 Brit, 5 American Music, 4 BBC Music, 18 Billboard Music and 10 BMI London, amongst many others.
