CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... JERMAINE STEWART

American R & B singer William Jermaine Stewart was born on 7th September 1957 in Columbus, Ohio and passed away on 17th March 1997.  He was also a songwriter and dancer.

When he was a teenager, Jermaine embarked on an entertainment career as a dancer and was successful when he appeared in a musical variety TV show.  There he met 2 other dancers with whom he joined the group ‘Shalamar’ as a dancer and toured with them for many years.  Later, Jermaine acted as backing vocalist for the song ‘Miss me Blind’ by English band ‘Culture Club’.

In 1984, Stewart released his first album which included a moderate successful single ‘The Word is Out’.  This was followed by a second album a couple of years later.  It featured the international hit single ‘We don’t have to take our clothes Off’, which peaked in the Top Ten charts of several countries.

Until Jermaine’s demise in 1997, 3 more albums and 8 singles were released , whilst another 2 albums came out afterwards.

Stewart died from liver cancer on 17th March 1997 at the age of 39.
