American actress and singer Lynda Carter was born 73 years ago as Lynda Jean Cordova Carter in Globe, Arizona, is widowed and has 2 children.

At just 5 years old, Lynda made her TV debut in a talent show.  In later years whilst in high school, she joined a group named ‘Just Us’ and then sang in the local pizza shop in order to make some extra money when she was 15.  The following year, she became part of the group ‘The Relatives’ together with 2 of her cousins and for 3 months performed in a hotel in Las Vegas.

In 1970, Carter auditioned to start singing with a band called ‘The Garfin Gathering’, was successful and toured with them, performing in numerous casino lounges in Nevada.  Two years later, however, Lynda decided to leave the group and went back to Arizona to embark on an acting career.  Then in 1972, she entered a local beauty contest representing her native state Arizona, won and consequently competed in the international Miss World pageant, placing with the Top 15.  Afterwards, she took acting classes and made her acting debut in an episode of the 1974 police drama ‘Nakia’.

Carter proceeded with her career and appeared in several TV productions but stardom struck when in 1975 she was offered the leading role of Diana Prince in the movie ‘The New Original Wonder Woman’ followed by the then-famous superhero TV series ‘Wonder Woman/The New Adventures of Wonder Woman’, appearing in a total of 59 episodes, ending in 1979.

From then to date, Lynda starred in 10 films, 8 video games and about 60 TV productions including series, TV movies and specials, plus various theatrical projects.  Apart from acting, Carter is also a singer and has in fact released 5 studio albums and 6 singles.

During her 56-year career, Lynda received several honours amongst which there are a Lifetime Achievement award, a Sor Juana Award.  She was also inducted in both the Hollywood as well as the California Walk of Fame.
