TODAY'S CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY... DANIEL RADCLIFFE

English actor Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born 35 years ago in Hammersmith, London and has a son with his partner actress Erin Darke.  He is best known for interpreting the character of Harry Potter in the films’ series.

Daniel attended 3 different private schools and from the tender age of 5, he began showing interest in acting.  In 1999, after doing an audition, he was chosen to act in the character of a young boy in the TV drama ‘David Copperfield’.  Two years later, he made his big screen debut in the film ‘The Tailor of Panama’.

In 2000, whilst he was accompanying his dad at the theatre, a film producer met them and asked Daniel to audition for the part of Harry Potter in the upcoming movie ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ which was based on the first best-selling book by English author J. K. Rowling.  Radcliffe did numerous other auditions and 8 months later managed to obtain the leading role.  The film was released in 2001 and was a huge success; Daniel received a 7-figure salary which his parents invested for him.

In the next decade, Radcliffe reprised his role in all 7 Harry Potter movies released between 2002 and 2011 and stardom was reached.  Apart from ‘Harry Potter’ and to date, Daniel also acted in 16 movies, 15 TV productions including voicing animated characters as well as 7 theatrical plays on the West End and on and off Broadway.

Daniel supports numerous charitable institutions including the LGBTQ community, troubled youths, AIDS sufferers etc.

During his career so far, Radcliffe received 22 awards out of 40 nominations.  These include 6 Broadway Audience, 3 MTV Movie and 3 Teen Choice, amongst others.
