British singer-songwriter and musician Paul Antony Young was born 69 years ago in Luton, Bedfordshire, is married and has 3 children.
As a youngster, Paul worked in a car company after school, as well as played football. During his free time, he played the bass guitar with various bands. He joined the band ‘Kat Kool & the Kool Kats’ as lead singer and later was part of the group ‘Streetband’, which however, disbanded in late 1979.
Paul then created a new band named ‘Q-Tips’ together with some of the ex-Streetband members. They toured, gave concerts and appeared in several TV shows and became very popular. In spite of releasing 2 albums and 7 singles, however, record sales were poor and in early 1982 the band split up.
After this, Paul decided to embark on a solo career and started to compose songs for his first album. It was released in 1983 and featured the hits ‘Love of the Common People’, ‘Wherever I lay my Hat’ and ‘Come back and Stay’. The following year, he contributed in the charity single ‘Do they know it’s Christmas?’ together with numerous other artists.
By this time, Paul had become an international pop star and continued having more successful hits like ‘I’m gonna tear your playhouse Down’, Every time You go Away’, and ‘Everything must Change’, all released during the 80s.
In the 90s, Young sang with other bands, produced the hit ‘Senza una Donna’ with Italian singer Zucchero and sang ‘Both sides Now’ in duet with the Irish Group ‘Clannad’. He also created a new group ‘Los Pocaminos’ with whom he performed in bars, clubs and theatres and released an album in 2002.
To date, Paul released 30 albums, 46 singles, 4 box sets and 27 music videos.
