Sabrina Debora Salerno was born on 15th March 1968 in Genova Italy, is married and has a son. She is a singer, writes and produces songs, a TV presenter, showgirl, actress and former model.
At the age of 16, she managed to win a beauty contest, and winning the title of Miss Liguria shortly after. This led her to participate in the contest of Miss Italia. The following year, in 1985, Sabrina made her TV debut when she took part in an Italian prime time show and in 1986 released her first single ‘Sexy Girl’, which obtained moderate success in her native Italy and other European countries.
The year after, Sabrina gained international fame with the worldwide number one hit ‘Boys (Summertime Love)’, not just for the song itself but also for its famous provocative video. Other tracks featured in her first album include ‘Hot Girl’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Kiss Me’ and cover versions of ‘Lady Marmalade’, ‘My Sharona’ and ‘Do you think I’m Sexy?’. Meanwhile, she acted in a couple of movies and a TV series.
In 1988, her second album was released which was successful in several European countries and included the tracks ‘All of Me (Boy oh Boy)’, ‘My Chico’, ‘Like a Yo- Yo’ and ‘Gringo’, amongst others.
At the beginning of the 90s, Sabrina hosted a TV show alongside Raffaella Carra` and went on to release her third album and the single ‘Yeah Yeah’. Then, for the first time, she recorded the song ‘Siamo Donne’ in her native Italian language, dueted with Jo Squillo.
During the last three decades, Sabrina released 3 more albums, took part in various theatrical performances, appeared in several TV shows/productions and acted in 8 films. She also toured Europe and collaborated with a number of other artists by appearing in video clips as well a singing in duet with them.
Salerno had ten international hits and sold more than 20 million records worldwide. She also won a World Music Award.
