CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... SEAN BEAN

English actor Shaun Mark Bean was born 66 years ago in Sheffield, West Yorkshire, is married and has 3 children.

He left school at the age of 16 and worked in a couple of jobs before starting working in his dad’s company.  He took welding and art lessons but then decided on attending a drama course which led him to winning a scholarship consisting of a seven-term course.

Sean’s acting career commenced in 1983 by performing in various theatrical plays and 3 years later starred in his first movie ‘Caravaggio’.  By the end of that decade, he became a renowned British TV actor as he appeared in some series as well as films.  Notoriety continued through the 90s and 00s, particularly when Bean was chosen for the role of main protagonist in the series ‘Sharpe’ and related TV films.

Apart from English films, Sean starred in numerous popular American movies such as ‘Patriot Games’, ‘Ronin’, ‘Don’t Say a Word’, ‘National Treasure’ and ‘The Island’, amongst many others.  Probably, however, his most significant role was as Boromir in the trilogy ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

Apart from acting, Sean also voiced characters in animated movies, narrated documentaries and video games as well as produced several TV drama/series etc.  To date, he appeared in more than 50 movies and over 60 TV productions plus several theatrical plays.  Bean will be voicing an upcoming animated character of the sci-fi movie ‘Rogue Trooper’ and is currently filming the American drama film ‘Anemone’.

During his long career, Bean received 16 awards, including an International Emmy and a BAFTA.  In addition, he received several honours from his home city, including an honorary doctorate and a Doctor of Letters in English Literature.
