Robert Barton Englund was born on 6th June 1947 in California, USA and is both an actor and director.
At the age of twelve, Robert began to study acting and continued through high school and then University. He successfully performed in theatrical productions for 5 years and eventually started seeking for jobs in movies and managed to get a role in ‘Buster and Billie’.
In the 70’s and early 80’s, he starred in several sci-fi and horror films. However, real stardom arrived when he accepted to act as Freddy Kreuger in the extremely successful horror movies ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. There were eight films in all and he acted in all of them.
During his +45-year career, Robert starred in over 75 movies including ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and ‘The Mangler’, and appeared in around 80 TV series like ‘Manimal’, ‘Simon & Simon’, ‘McGyver’, ‘Knight Rider’,’Hawaii 5-0′, ‘Criminal Minds’, amongst many others.
From 1989 to 1991, he hosted the Horror Hall of Fame awards. Robert also directed/produced a couple of movies and won 5 awards.
