American-British actor and singer David Soul was born on 28th August 1943 as David Richard Solberg in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on 4th January 2024. He was married and has 6 children.
After graduating from high school, David attended college and then university. At school, he was taught by other students to play the guitar and decided to embark on a music career. He then started singing in a club.
During the 60s, David made his acting debut on stage and performed in some plays, as well as appeared in a several TV shows and series which rendered him famous like ‘The Merv Griffin Show’, ‘Star Trek’ and Here Come the Brides’. In the next decade, Soul continued acting in various TV series such as ‘Streets of San Francisco’ and starred alongside Clint Eastwood in the action thriller ‘Magnum Force’. However, his breakthrough role arrived in 1975 when he interpreted the character of Detective Ken ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson in the popular series ‘Starsky & Hutch’, starring also Paul Michael Glaser. This series ran for 4 years until 1979 with a total of 92 episodes.
In the mid-70s, David got back to music and released his debut album. He then had a US number one hit single ‘Don’t give up on Us’, which also topped the charts of other countries. The year after, it was followed by another single ‘Silver Lady’ which was a number one hit in the UK and Ireland. Afterwards, Soul embarked on a world tour until 1982 and released 11 more albums and 10 singles.
With regards to film and TV, David starred in 15 movies and 31 TV productions.
David passed away on 4th January 2024 from cancer at the age of 80.
