CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... G.W. BAILEY

American actor G.W. Bailey was born 80 years ago in Port Arthur, Texas, is divorced and has 2 children.

He attended high school and continued studying in 2 different colleges, however, after some time he dropped out and started working for local theatre companies.  After a decade, he moved to California and starred in the private detective TV series ‘Harry O’ in a small recurring role.  This was followed by several guest appearances in some other TV series like ‘Starsky & Hutch’, ‘CHiPs’ and ‘Soap’ til the end of the 70s.

Then, in 1979, he made his movie debut in ‘A Force of One’ alongside Chuck Norris.  He then rose to fame with his role in ‘M*A*S*H’, interpreting the character of Sgt Luther Rizzo.  During the 80s, Bailey continued starring in numerous TV series such as ‘Murder She Wrote’, ‘Simon & Simon’ and ‘War & Remembrance’, as well as films, particularly all 6 movies of the ‘Police Academy’ franchise.

In 1993, Bailey decided to return to college and succeeded in obtaining a BA degree in Fine Arts whilst proceeding with his career.

For 18 years, Bailey volunteered as Executive Director of the non-profit institution called ‘Sunshine Kids Foundation’ which helps children suffering from cancer by offering activities for them and their families across the US and North America.

To date, Bailey starred in around 80 movies and TV series.
