Singer Edward Christopher Sheeran was born on 17th February 1991 in West Yorkshire, England, is married and has 2 children. He is also a record producer and songwriter, guitarist and actor.
When he was just 4 years old, Ed used to sing in the choir of the local church and 3 years later, started to learn the guitar. Whilst in high school, he began to write songs. As a teenager, he performed in a musical and later studied Artist Development.
Ed’s music career started during the 2000s, when he began composing songs and issued his first music collection at the age of 13. A few years later, he played in small locations and studied music at 18. He also collaborated with other artists and released several EPs and posted videos on internet. He started gaining popularity and got invited to perform in a club whilst in the US and even gave free shows in his native UK.
In 2011, his debut single ‘The A Team’ was released and was an instant hit. It placed number three in the UK Singles chart and was also a Top Ten hit in several countries worldwide. Likewise, the three singles that followed, namely ‘You need me, I don’t need You’, ‘Lego House’ and ‘Drunk’, made it to the Top Ten.
To date, Sheeran released 6 albums, 71 music videos, 45 singles and 19 EPs and had no less than 10 number one UK hits including ‘Shape of You’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Bad Habits’, ‘Shivers’ and ‘I don’t Care’ amongst others. Record sales are estimated to around 150 million copies worldwide.
Apart from music, Ed starred in various TV series, soap operas and movies. He also supports, raises funds and gives generous donations to help several charitable institutions.
Ed received an impressive 186 awards out of 469 nominations. These include 4 Grammy, 4 Ivor Novello, 39 BMI London, 20 BMI Pop, 7 Brit and 5 MTV Europe Music, amongst many others.
