English singer and songwriter Elena Jane Goulding was born 36 years ago in Hereford, is married and has a child.
As a kid she learnt to play the clarinet and later the guitar as a teenager. When she was 15, Ellie began to write songs and enrolled to university.
Ellie’s career started in 2009 with her single ‘Under the Sheets’ which was quite successful and meanwhile wrote some songs for different artists. Her first album ‘Lights’ came out in 2010 and peaked to number one on the UK charts, selling more than 850,000 copies in the UK alone. That same year, she accompanied other music artists on their tours around the UK whilst promoting her own album.
Ellie also became popular in the US and appeared in a couple of live shows. She even sang during Prince William’s wedding reception in 2011. Four years later, the hit ‘Love me like you Do’, which featured in the movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, reached number one on the UK charts, staying there for 4 weeks. It went also very well in other countries’ music charts.
After this worldwide success, Ellie continued releasing albums, performing in concerts and music festivals, as well as collaborating with various other artists by singing in duet with them.
Ellie is a keen philanthropist and supports several charities regarding heart diseases, disadvantaged children, the homeless, the environment and social justice.
To date, Goulding released 4 albums and the 5th one is supposed to come out in 2023. She also appeared in 3 documentaries and a short film, as well as 6 TV programmes and also wrote a book.
So far, Ellie received 30 awards out of 74 nominations, including 11 BMI London, 2 Brit and 1 Billboard Music, amongst others.
