Italian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Francesco Gabbani was born 42 years ago in Carrara and is in a relationship.
Since his family were the owners of a music shop, Francesco got into music at a very young age. In fact, at just 4 years old, he started learning to play the drums and 5 years later the guitar and then the bass as well as the piano. His career initiated as a funk, blues and jazz musician.
He attended his local high school and prior to finishing his studies, he got his first record contract at the age of 18. Gabbani then joined a project called ‘Trikobalto’ with 2 other guys and together they recorded and released an album. They later performed in the main Italian festivals which rendered them popular.
In 2010, their second album came out, followed by a tour around France. Later, they were chosen to support the British rock band ‘The Stereophonics’ during their concert in Italy and also guest appeared in the San Remo Music Festival of that same year. Some time afterwards, however, Francesco decided to leave the project to pursue a solo career.
In the year that followed, Gabbani released 4 singles, whilst his debut solo album came out 3 years afterwards. Francesco then composed the track ‘Amen’ and competed in the SRMF and succeeded in winning 1st place in the ‘New Proposals’ section, plus obtaining 3 other awards. A few months later, the song was certified gold and then platinum after selling 50K copies.
In 2016, his second album was released, followed by a promotional tour during which he opened concerts of both local and international artists. In addition, he was the author of songs for 2 other Italian singers, namely Adriano Celentano and Francesco Renga.
The following year, Francesco participated again in the yearly SRMF in the ‘Big’ category, and was a winner with the track ‘Occidentali’s Karma’. It was a huge success not just in his native Italy but also throughout Europe. He also represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest with this song, placing 6th.
Since then, 3 more albums were released, the latest being in 2022. Gabbani also hosted his first TV show named ‘Ci vuole un fiore’, in 2022, followed by a 2nd edition last year. Francesco also debuted as an actor in an Italian movie in 2023. Earlier this year, he guest appeared in the SRMF and sung in duet with famous Italian singer Fiorella Mannoia.
During his career so far, Gabbani won 12 awards, including a Telegatto, 3 Wind Music and 2 TIMmusic.
