Italian singer, songwriter and composer Gianni Bella was born 77 years ago as Giovanni Bella in Catania, Sicily, is married and has 2 daughters.
Gianni’s career started in the 60s when he was a member of several bands as singer and guitarist. Towards the end of that decade, he moved to Milan together with his sister Marcella, who was also a singer. Over the years, he composed numerous tracks for her and she became an established singer.
In 1974, Gianni participated in the ‘Disco Per L’Estate’ festival with the track ‘Piu` ci penso’ which was very well received, so much so that in remained in the Italian hit parade with the Top 10 for over 3 months. Two years later, he competed in the prestigious San Remo Festival and managed to win the contest with the song ‘Non si puo` morire dentro’, which hit remained on the Italian charts for more than 4 months.
Gianni participated another 4 times in the SR festival, twice of which he sang in duet with his sister Marcella. He also contested several other times in the Disco per L’Estate and the Festivalbar events. In a span of 5 decades, Bella wrote the lyrics and/or music of around 90 songs for other artists plus numerous singles and albums outside of his native Italy. He has also composed soundtracks for some Italian TV dramas and movies.
With regards to his discography, Gianni recorded 15 studio albums, 22 Collections, 2 live albums and 20 singles.
