American actress Linda Hunt was born 80 years ago as Lydia Susanna Hunt in Morristown, New Jersey and is married.

Linda studied at an Arts Academy and then graduated from a School of Drama.  Prior to entering the movie and TV industry, she was already known for her theatrical live performances.  In 1972, she made her stage debut in the play ‘Hamlet’ and until 1988 (her last stage appearance), Linda performed in 6 more plays on and off Broadway.

Hunt’s big screen debut was in 1980 when she starred in the movie ‘Popeye’ alongside Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall.  Two years later, she was offered an unusual role, i.e. portraying the male character of Billy Kwan in the romantic drama film ‘The Year of Living Dangerously’.  For her interpretation, Linda won no less than 8 awards and nominated for 2 others, most of them for Best Supporting Actress.  Over the years, Hunt acted in various movies of different genres like ‘Silverado’, ‘She-Devil’, ‘Kindergarten Cop’, ‘Rain Without Thunder’, ‘Pret-a-Porter’, The Relic’ and ‘Yours, Mine and Ours’.

As a TV actress, Hunt starred for the first time on the small screen in an episode of the 1972 series ‘Great Performances’.  Over the years, she appeared in various other series and a TV movie and in particular, Linda acted in a recurring role in 24 episodes of ‘The Practice’ between 1997 and 2002 as well as co-starring in ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ between 2009 and 2021/2023.  She has also narrated several TV programmes like documentaries, video games, films, adverts as well as voiced animated movie characters such as ‘Pocahontas’ and ‘Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World’.

Hunt is also an active philanthropist and supports an animal welfare organization, and is even its ambassador.
