American actress Lisa Valerie Kudrow was born 62 years ago in Los Angeles, California, is married and has a son.
Lisa went to middle school, then continued in high school from where she graduated and eventually went to college where she obtain a BA in biology, as she aimed to become a headaches expert, just like her dad and in fact, worked for him for 8 years.
In 1989, however, she began to attend a sketch comedy school and her acting career took off. That same year, Lisa starred in a TV film, an episode of the sitcom ‘Cheers’ and also had a role in the movie ‘L.A. for $5 a day’. In the 5 years that followed, she appeared in 7 TV productions and 5 movies.
Kudrow made a career breakthrough in 1994 when she was chosen to portray Phoebe Buffay in the much loved, world famous sitcom ‘Friends’, starring also David Schwimmer, Matt Le Blanc, Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston. She played this character for 10 years until the series ended for a total of 236 episodes. Concurrently, Lisa also played Phoebe’s twin sister Ursula in 8 episodes of the same sitcom, as well as in 24 episodes of another sitcom named ‘Mad About You’.
Apart from ‘Friends’ and ‘Mad About You’, Kudrow starred in numerous other movies and TV programmes and in the last 3 decades was cast in over 35 films and around 40 TV productions, some of which she has also wrote and/or executively produced/voiced animated characters. Amongst these there are: ‘Clockwatchers’, ‘Analyze This’, ‘Dr Doolittle 2’, ‘Happy Endings’, ‘The Girl on the Train’, ‘The Parenting’, ‘Hercules’, ‘Father of the Pride’, ‘The Comeback’, ‘Web Therapy’, ’25 Words or Less’, ‘Friends: The Reunion’ and ‘No Good Deed’.
During her career so far, Lisa won 19 awards out of 98 nominations. These include an Emmy, 4 Webby, a Satellite, a Teen Choice, a Dorian, a Gracie and a Blockbuster Entertainment.
