Terence Hill (real name Mario Girotti), was born 83 years ago in Venice Italy.  Apart from acting, Terence also wrote, produced and directed films.

His career started in the 1950s at a very young age when he was noted by a film director and was given small roles in various films.  More important roles were offered to him in the 1960s.  In fact, in 1967, he rose to stardom with the Spaghetti Western movie ‘God Forgives… I don’t!’  alongside actor Bud Spencer.  This movie was considered as that year’s most popular film.  In the next two decades, Hill and Spencer starred together in many more films: ‘They call me Trinity’ and its sequel ‘Trinity is still my Name’, ‘Watch out we’re Mad’, ‘Crime Busters’, ‘Odds and Evens’ and ‘Who finds a friend finds a Treasure’, ‘Miami Supercops’ and ‘Double Trouble’, amongst others. Terence also acted in various other movies, both in Italy and internationally, particularly in Germany and the United States.

He produced ‘The World of Don Camillo’ as well as ‘Lucky Luke’ in 1984 and 1991 respectively.  In the year 2000, Hill was given the leading role in the Italian TV series ‘Don Matteo’ which is still running to this present day.  For this role, Terence was honoured with an international award for ‘Outstanding Actor of the Year’ at the 42nd Monte Carlo TV Festival.
