English actress and model Elizabeth Jane Hurley was born 60 years ago in Basingstoke, Hampshire, is divorced and has a son.
As a child, she took ballet lessons, went to 6th form and proceeded with studying theatre and dancing for 3 years. After that, in 1987, she started dating actor Hugh Grant and was simply known as his girlfriend. When the movie ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ came out in 1994 with Hugh Grant starring in it, it was a huge success and he became an international star. Hurley caught the media’s attention when she accompanied him to the movie’s premiere in a very revealing dress and she too became popular. They split 13 years later.
Elizabeth’s acting debut was in the 1987 movie ‘Aria’. By the end of the 90s, she had acted in 14 more films including ‘Passenger 57’, ‘Bedazzled’, ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’, ‘Extreme Measures’ and ‘Mickey Blue Eyes’, amongst others. She also appeared in several TV shows and series, soap operas and a documentary and even performed in 2 theatrical productions.
In the last 25 years, Hurley appeared in 16 movies, 2 of which she produced/executively produced, and 9 TV productions including made-for-TV films, series and soap operas. This year, she will be performing in an upcoming reality series named ‘The Inheritance’
Apart from acting, Elizabeth is also a businesswoman and became a spokesmodel for Estee Lauder at the age of 29. She did perfume ads and campaigned their cosmetics as well. She even created her beachwear line which was launched in the UK in 2005 and later introduced to other countries in Europe and the US.
Hurley is also an active philanthropist and over the years has supported several charitable institutions regarding breast cancer, AIDS, youth cooking and world hunger, amongst others.
