American singer-songwriter Lyle Pearce Lovett was born 67 years ago in Houston, Texas, is married and has twin sons.
During his teenage years, Lyle went to university and in 1980 he obtained a BA degree in German and Journalism. At the beginning of that decade, he regularly performed acoustic music in small bars near the university campus and his music career was initially as a singer-songwriter, mainly in the folk acoustic scene. He participated twice in a folk festival and later was invited by another singer whom he had met a few years earlier to play in an annual funfair held in Luxembourg. This guy introduced him to an American house band who encouraged him to join them. Lovett went on to record 18 songs with them, and eventually 10 of these tracks featured in his debut album released in 1986.
Since his first album to date, Lyle released 11 more studio albums, the latest in 2022. He also had 2 compilation, 1 live and 1 soundtrack albums, plus 36 singles and 11 music videos. His highest charted track was ‘Cowboy Man’ released in 1986, which placed 10th on the US Country chart.
Lovett has also performed numerous songs in over 25 movies and TV series such as ‘Always’, ‘The Firm’, ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’, ‘Stuart Little’, ‘The Interpreter’, ‘Deadwood’, ‘True Blood’ and ‘Still Alice’. Apart from music, Lyle starred in some 24 films/TV series, as well as acted in and composed the theatrical play ‘Much Ado about Nothing’.
During his career so far, Lovett received 4 Grammy Awards out of 17 nominations and was inducted in the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2012.
