CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... MURRAY HEAD

English singer and actor Murray Head was born 79 years ago as Murray Seafield St George Head in London, is married and has 2 daughters.  His dad was a documentary film maker whilst his mum was a movie and TV actress.  He has a younger brother who is also an actor.

As a kid, Murray attended primary and secondary school and then continued his studies in college.  Since he was very young, he started to write songs and by the time he was 20, Murray had already obtained a recording contract.  For a short period of time, he co-hosted a TV pop show and performed in the musical ‘Hair’ at the West End.  Head was then approached by songwriter Tim Rice and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber to interpret the character of Judas Iscariot in the famous rock opera ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.

In 1966, Murray debuted as an actor in the film ‘The Family Way’, in which he sung the track ‘Someday Soon’.  Over the years, he starred in 16 more movies of different genres and 30 TV series, the latest being in 2019.

At first he had meagre success, but it took a positive turn when in 1984 he released the number one international hit single ‘One Night in Bangkok’ which was part of the musical ‘Chess’ concept album, and in which Murray also performed.

Afterwards, Head was not that successful as a singer, however, in 1999, he co-wrote the screenplay of the movie ‘Les Enfants du Siecle’, and since he was fluent in French, he also released some albums in French.

In all to date, Murray released 12 studio, 3 soundtrack, 2 live, 6 compilation and 5 cast recording albums, 1 EP and 44 singles.
