CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... BRIAN TOCHI

American actor Brian Tochi was born 62 years ago as Brian Keith Tochihara in Los Angeles, California.

As a kid, Brian attended public schools and studio tutors and after graduating, he continued his studies in 3 different universities.

Tochi’s career started in 1968 as a 5-year old child actor, guest appearing in a TV series named ‘He & She’, followed by a part in an episode of ‘Star Trek’ later on that same year.  Afterwards, Brian had roles in several other TV series including ‘The Brady Bunch’, ‘The Partridge Family’ and ‘Marcus Welby M.D.’ whilst also making his big screen debut in the 1971 movie ‘The Omega Man’.  The following year, Tochi voiced an animated TV series character as well as was cast in 13 episodes of the TV series ‘Anna and the King’, starring also Yul Brynner.  In the middle of that decade, he also performed on stage in the musical ‘The King and I’ and later continued to appear in various TV series episodes such as ‘Kung Fu’, ‘Space Academy’ and ‘Hawaii Five-O’.

During the 80s, Brian was cast in 6 movies and 10 TV series.  Particularly, he interpreted the character of ‘Dragon’ in the 1983 short-lived TV series ‘The Renegades’ (6 episodes), voiced a character in 65 episodes of the animated TV series ‘Bionic Six’ and was cast in 26 episodes of the soap opera ‘Santa Barbara’, wherein he portrayed ‘Kai’.  Moreover, he had the role of Cadet/Officer Tomoko Nogata in the famous movies ‘Police Academy 3: Back in Training’ and ‘Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol’.

From the next decade to date, Tochi appeared in several TV films and series, but mainly voiced over 50 animated movie/TV/video game characters.  These include ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ (voicing Leonardo), ‘Aladdin’, ‘Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm’, ‘Batman Beyond’, ‘Johnny Bravo’, What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’, ‘Toy Story’, ‘Hercules’, ‘A Bug’s Life’, ‘Tarzan’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Chicken Little’, ‘Cars’, ‘Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon’, ‘Area 51’ and many others.  

Regarding other works, Brian produced, directed and co-wrote a live-action comedy plus co-writing the screenplay of ‘In the Heat of the Light’, for which he won a Hollywood Screenplay Award.  He continues to do this work to this day.
