American actress Janine Turner was born 62 years ago as Janine Loraine Gauntt in Lincoln, Nebraska, is single and has a daughter.
In 1978, when she was 15 years old, Janine left home and travelled to New York City and started a modelling career. Two years later, she moved to Hollywood and made her acting debut on the small screen when she appeared in some episodes of the famous soap opera ‘Dallas’. For the rest of the 80s, Turner continued to star in several popular TV series like ‘The Love Boat’, ‘Happy Days’, ‘The A-Team’, ‘Knight Rider’ and ‘Quantum Leap’.
Janine, however, was not very satisfied with the roles she was being offered, so she decided to return back to New York to study in order to ameliorate her acting. In fact, in 1990, she made a career breakthrough when she got the leading role of Maggie O’Connell in the comedy-drama TV series ‘Northern Exposure’. Janine interpreted this character for 5 years until 1995, in a total of 110 episodes.
In 1993, Turner starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the action movie ‘Cliffhanger’. During that decade, she appeared in 5 made-for-TV films and 3 more big screen movies.
From the beginning the 2000s to date, Janine proceeded with her career and starred in 12 films and 7 TV movies/series. These include a recurring role in medical drama ‘Strong Medicine’ (50 episodes), ‘Primal Doubt’, ‘Friday Night Lights’, ‘No Regrets’, ‘Birdie & Bogey’ and ‘Solace’, amongst others.
Janine is also an activist and is a spokesperson in many events regarding faith, politics, heart health, etc. She has also published a book.
During her career, Turner won a Young Artist Award in 1983 for ‘Best Young Actress in the Daytime Series’ for ‘General Hospital’.
